The boy who never paid high school fees...
When he passed his class eight papers, he was scheduled to attend a boarding school which during those times was a high class high school. But in the midst of trying to swallow the reality and also look for ways to get the school fees which the family was unable to raise, a neighbor came with an idea.
As a friend, the neighbor thought this could help dissolve their fears. But on the contrary, the neighbor made a paining proposal. Because he was rich and the daughter had not received a letter to join the high class high school he thought swapping could be better.
In his argument, the neighbor said that because family of the sharp boy was not able to pay for the school fees required by the school it would be better for them to exchange as according to the family financial strength, they could only afford to pay the fees required by the day school. So as per the plans of the neighbor, the bright boy was to go to a day school where his daughter had received a letter of admission and his daughter to go to the boarding school where the boy was to be admitted.
However, the father declined and the determined boy finally enrolled in the boarding school. Now funny enough according to the worldly vocabulary, they could not raise the fees. But when put in the right terms, the family took a step of faith and as he would say it, the mother only gave him a Ksh100bob for fare. That is all they could afford.
As time went by, the boy had a huge fees balance but he could not get sent home. Every time the list was read out, he missed out a midst fears as he knew fees was not paid yet. This happened until he was done with form four. Of how this happened, it is still a mystery. But in remembrance of Jeremiah 33.3, this is Gods doings.
"That he will answer by showing great and mighty things which we do not know."
Now he finished and joined campus and never paid the school fees balance. When he got out of campus, he got a job and when the 'coins accepted his pocket', he went and cleared the balance.
He now recounts of his story and only sings one song….This far the lord you have brought me…
